FORT WORTH – Gwendolyn Rae Hickey Ward passed away peacefully early Monday morning, August 20, 2018. She had just celebrated her 76th birthday on August 9. MEMORIAL GATHERING: Family and friends will gather from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Garden Room at Ridglea Country Club, 3700 Bernie Anderson Avenue. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to a charity of choice, in her memory, is suggested. Born in San Diego, California, the family moved to Fort Worth shortly thereafter. Gwen went to Alice Carlson Elementary, McLean Junior High and R. L. Paschal High School before attending Texas Christian University and graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington with a M.S. in accounting and a B.B.A. in real estate. Gwen loved the outdoors and traveling. She was a certified scuba diver and went twice a year to the Caribbean diving. Camping, boating she did it all. She also had a passion for horses from a very young age; from showing to being a breeder of race horses. She and her grandson started going to Port Aransas about 7 years ago. She fell in love with it, bought a condo and loved sitting on the balcony reading novels and watching the big ships go up and down the shipping channel. Gwen was very passionate about her business and was determined to be the best at what she did. She was well respected in the business community and loved by many. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jay Morgan Hickey, and sister, Betty Lou Hickey Woods. SURVIVORS: In addition to her children, Debbie Ward Parker and Paul Ward, Gwendolyn is survived by her grandchildren, Jacob, Chad and Leann, Christina and Samantha and Jon; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Tristin, Tobey, Johnny, Noble, J.J. and Joe; and brother, Carl Hickey.
