FORT WORTH -- Grady Varnell Drennan, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully Sunday morning, April 20, 2014. Mr. Drennan was 86 years old. Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper with the Rev. Dr. Steve Beckwith officiating. A committal service, with "Taps," will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Garvin Cemetery, Boyd. Visitation: Family and friends will gather 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Great Room at the funeral home. Born in Boyd, Grady was the son of Grady Olin and Florence V. Kinsey Drennan. He graduated from Boyd High School where he was named Athlete of the Year in 1947. Following high school, Grady served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War and remained in the Reserves for another 10. Grady married the love of his life, Lois Marie Roberts, on Feb. 28, 1953. He and Lois were members of James Avenue Baptist Church before moving to Burleson and joining Oak Grove Baptist Church. Before retiring, he was employed by Tarrant County Precinct #1 as a driver. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert V. Drennan; brother, William Coy Drennan; and sister, Flodeen Virginia Drennan Mullins. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 61 years, Lois, Grady is survived by his children, Karla Marie Martin and her husband, Lewis Worsham, Kristie Ann Cunningham and her husband, Jimmy, and Ronald Lee Drennan; grandchildren, Kelley Cunningham and his wife, Samantha, and Rebecca Drennan; sisters, Darlene Morgan and Faith Yvonne Pewitt and her husband, Jimmy; and nieces and nephews and their families.
