FORT WORTH -- Grace Elaine Butler Adams, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 20, 2017. Mrs. Adams was 93. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the sanctuary of University Christian Church, 2720 S. University Drive, with a reception to following in the church’s Gallery Area. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to University Christian Church or to a charity of choice, in her memory, is suggested. Born Nov. 22, 1923 in Roseboro, N.C., Grace was the daughter of Joseph C. and Tera C. Starling Butler. She graduated from St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, N.C. in 1942 and from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1944. After graduating she worked at NACA, now called NASA, in Langley Field, Va. While at NACA she met and later married Richard Adams, an engineer at NACA. Their journey took them to Oak Ridge, Tenn. where he worked for Fairchild Corp. for five years. In 1951, they moved to Fort Worth where her husband took a job with General Dynamics Corp. His work took them to La Jolla, Calif. and to St. Louis, Mo. They kept their home in Ft. Worth and after retirement returned there to live. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 61 years, Richard E. Adams; Scott Starling Adams, their eight-day old son; and by a brother, Joseph C. Butler and his wife Janice. Survivors: In addition to her three children; Win Adams Sr. and his wife, Donna, Elaine Adams Small and her husband, Terry, and Anne Adams, Grace was grandmother to Richard Hall, Rob Hall and his wife, Claire, Win Adams, Jr., Katie Adams and Preston Hall and his wife, Yaneya; she was great-grandmother to Gage; and is also survived by a brother, Frank J. Butler and his wife, Landrum of Raleigh, N.C.
