FORT WORTH -- George O. Patten Jr., a wonderful husband, father and so kind to his fellow man, died peacefully Saturday morning, Jan. 19, 2013, during his 96th year. Service: 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at University Christian Church, 2720 S. University Drive, where family and friends will be received in the church's parlor immediately after the service. He will be laid to rest privately in the Mausoleum at Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the American Airlines Museum, Box 619617, Mail Drop 808, DFW Airport, Texas 75261-9617, or to a charity of one's choice, in his memory, is suggested. Born in Waxahachie on May 11, 1916, George was the son of George Otto and Isabelle White Patten. After moving in 1921 to Weatherford where he went to school at the Pythian Home of Children, he attended N.T.A.C., now the University of Texas at Arlington before going to Texas A&M.
