Fred William Korngut died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 95 on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
Fred was born August 30, 1929, to Dora and Adolf Korngut of Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Forest Avenue High School and briefly attended SMU before serving in the U.S. Air Force Reserves during the Korean War. Upon arriving back to Texas, Fred met his wife, Harriette. The two courted a long-distance relationship before marrying in 1954. Loved ones remember their marriage to be loving, kind, and unwavering for 61 years until Harriette passed. Fred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who personified integrity, patience, and love throughout his life.
After three decades of working for Commercial Scrap Metal, Fred and Harriette retired to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where they created their haven on ten acres of land. Fred and Harriette eventually returned to Fort Worth, Texas, to spend time with family and enjoy their grandchildren.
Fred was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge and member of Congregation House of Israel in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Fred was preceded in death by wife, Harriette, and son, Joseph Korngut. Fred is survived by his son, Ross Korngut, granddaughters, Rachel and Gabriella Korngut, and great-granddaughter, Isabella Korngut.
A Service at the Grave will be held at 11:30 am Sunday, September 29, in Shearith Israel Memorial Park, Dallas.
