AUSTIN -- Frank Seymour Berlin, formerly of Fort Worth, died peacefully Wednesday evening, Dec. 4, 2013, early in his 90th year, after extended illness. Service: 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park, with Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger officiating. A reception will follow at 4 p.m. at Beth-El Congregation, 4900 Briarhaven Road. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Beth-El Congregation, in his memory, is suggested. Born in the Bronx Borough of New York City on Nov. 11, 1923, Frank was the son of Louis and Frieda Steinberg Berlin. He personified the "Greatest Generation," graduating from City College of N.Y., serving in France during World War II, then working in the apparel industry for 50 years, much valued by manufacturers and customers alike. Frank loved to dance, travel, read and share stories, especially in different languages. He will be greatly missed. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Lila Lee Baum Berlin of Austin, Frank is survived by his son, Craig Berlin; daughter, Sharon L. Friedland; grandchildren, Kevin and Kathryn; brother, Murray Berlin and his wife, Marcia, of Cleveland, Ohio; 13 nieces and nephews and their children spread around the globe.
