Mrs. EMOGENE J LAWSON LITTLE

FORT WORTH -- Emogene J Lawson Little, a longtime resident of Weatherford, passed peacefully early Thursday morning, Nov. 21, 2013. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper. Her cremated remains, along with those of her husband, will be interred in Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation or a charity of one's choice, in her name, is suggested. Born in Fort Worth on Jan. 31, 1924, Emogene graduated from Polytechnic High School and was a member of Meadowbrook United Methodist Church before moving to Louisiana to study dance. She became a professional dancer and model in New York, traveling with the USO during World War II. After the war, Emogene met her husband, Samuel Jones Little Jr. of Weatherford. Married for 38 years before Lt. Col. Little's death in 1986, they traveled around the world raising their four children in a variety of foreign countries and different states in the U.S. Following her husband's retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 1970, they moved back to Weatherford where "Miss Gene" re-opened the Gene Little School of Dance from 1972 to 1995. Survivors: Known as "Mimi" or "Aunt Jane," she is survived by her children, Linda and husband, Michael Crum, of San Antonio, Laura and husband, Michael Anderson of Weatherford, Lorraine Little of Fort Worth and Sam L. Little, also of Weatherford; grandchildren, Joshua Anderson and Parker Anderson; great-grandchild, Raviyah Anderson; twin brother, Eugene Lawson of Seattle, Wash.; nieces, nephews and cousins and their families.
