Emily Elizabeth Hanna Bintliff FORT WORTH -- Emily Elizabeth Hanna Bintliff died peacefully late Wednesday afternoon, June 19, 2013, during her 60th year. Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 817 Lamar St. Family and friends will gather in the church's Moncrief Hall following the service. It was Emily's desire for cremation; her cremated remains will be placed with her parents on the family plot in Eastview Memorial Park, Vernon, at 1 p.m. Friday, June 28. Her family will be receiving friends at the Vernon Country Club after the committal service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Friends of the TCU Library, Attn: Shelda Dean, TCU Box 298400, Fort Worth, Texas 76129, or Fort Worth Country Day School Fund, in her memory, is suggested. Born in Vernon on Nov. 28, 1952, Emily was the daughter of Fred Sumner and Emily Jayne Hanna. A fiercely competitive tennis player, inspired by her tennis-loving father, Emily represented Vernon High School in the state finals and then went on to Texas Christian University where she was a founding member of the TCU Women's Tennis Team. While at TCU, she was an active member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, where she served as pledge trainer and made many dear, lifelong friends. Emily was a devoted and loving mother to her two sons, John and Dan, of whom she was exceedingly proud. While neither of her sons followed in her love for tennis, they chose golf, so Emily walked countless miles supporting and encouraging them during their tournaments for the Paschal High School golf team. But, she also continued competing in tennis herself, as past president, past club champion and interclub champion of the Colonial Country Club Ladies Tennis Association. She also applied her boundless enthusiasm and effort into other interests, including years of competitive interclub tennis at Colonial Country Club, Delta Delta Delta alumni and chapter advisor roles, as an officer in Junior League of Fort Worth, teaching St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Sunday school, reunion chairperson for TCU Alumni, TCU Lettermen's Association, president of Tanglewood PTA and key roles in University Little League. Then, as a 10-year breast cancer survivor, she was active in fundraising for Susan G. Komen, and most recently was involved with the Carcinoid Cancer Support Group of Dallas. She also contributed her time and talents to a vast number of other civic and charitable causes throughout Fort Worth. In her working career, she shared her abilities and broadened her circle of friends, first at the TCU Library and then at Fort Worth Country Day School. But beyond her time and talents, Emily brought her sharp wit, ready smile, infectious laugh and warm grace to every group and event that she participated in. Emily had great passion for the things in life that were important to her, but said that the most important thing to her of all was her eternal salvation. So her family and friends rejoice in knowing that Emily has now reaped that precious reward and she rests today in the loving arms of her Lord. Her family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Community Hospice of Texas at James L. West, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, the Courtyards at Fort Worth and Stonegate Nursing Center for the care, kindness and compassion shown to Emily. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Elizabeth and Fred Hanna and Florence and Emmett Maxon. Survivors: In addition to her sons, John and his wife, Hillary, of Fort Worth and Dan of Dallas, and their father, Bob, Emily is survived by her sister, Frances Hanna Boswell and her husband, Brad, of Houston; nephews, Clark and Mason Boswell; her dear friend and companion, Randy Westcott; stepmother, Judy Hanna; stepbrothers, Forrest Nussbaum and his wife, Deanna, and Scott Nussbaum and his wife, Jennifer; stepsister, Susan Fitzgerald and her husband, Scott; and their children, Ethan, Lilly and Bowen Nussbaum, Sean and Chase Nussbaum and Wayne, Henry and Ben Fitzgerald.
