Mrs. ELIZABETH ANNE "Betty" FIELDS WELLS

FORT WORTH -- Betty Fields Wells, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, Dec. 15, 2015. Mrs. Wells was 88 years old. Graveside service: 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park, the Rev. Dr. William M. Longsworth of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth officiating. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Meals on Wheels or the First United Methodist Church for the Children's Division, in her memory, is suggested. Bon April 27, 1927, in Clearwater, Betty was the daughter of Herbert and Grace Sawyer Fields. She married J.D. Wells Jr. in 1946 and moved to Fort Worth to begin their life together. Mr. Wells passed away in 2005 after 59 years of marriage. Betty, as she was known to family and friends, was a homemaker for many years while raising their four children. She was involved in all of their activities and service on the PTA boards of all of their schools. She was an active member of the Junior Woman's Club and the Woman's Club of Fort Worth and a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth where she served as secretary of the Children's Division for over 30 years. Betty loved doing crafts and was the ultimate seamstress. Later in life, she went to work at The Needlepoint Gallery where she shared her knitting and needlepoint skills, teaching many in Fort Worth this art. She made all of her children and grandchildren beautiful needlepoint stockings and other holiday decorations. Her talents will be reflected in their homes forever. Her family would like to thank Stonegate Nursing Center for taking such good care of their mother for the last 10 years! She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Herb. Survivors: Betty is survived by her children, Dona and Mike Leeman, Jim Wells, Martha Wells and Christi and Bruce Lea; grandchildren, Lindsey and Mason Leeman, Colin and Jenn Wells, Taylor Wells and Brittany and Brylyn Lea; great-grandchildren, Madison and London Wells; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
