FORT WORTH – Elizabeth Ann McElyea Moore passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, Feb. 7, 2017. Mrs. Moore was 93. Memorial Service: 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Christian Church of Fort Worth, 612 Throckmorton Street. She was laid to rest on Friday, Feb. 10, next to her husband, Kenneth in Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Memorials: First Christian Church of Fort Worth, in her honor. Born October 15, 1923 in Fort Worth, Elizabeth was the daughter of R. G. and Leecy Ann Caple McElyea. She graduated from R. L. Paschal High School and Texas Wesleyan College. While at TWC, Elizabeth was appointed as a Guardian of the Golden Shears to recognize her excellence in academics, leadership skills and contributions to campus life. In 1945, Elizabeth married Kenneth Moore. She was known to those closest as Mom, Hon or Honey. An independent woman, she ran a family business, Ken Moore Enterprise, for over 40 years following the death of her husband in 1960. Her father brought Elvis Presley to the Northside when he was beginning his music career and her husband worked closely with Elvis and traveled together to Hawaii for his first Hawaiian concert. Elizabeth was one of the first female wrestling promoters and worked with Fritz Von Erich operating wrestling matches out of Northside Coliseum and Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum. Elizabeth spent her free time with her family and church. She was a member of First Christian Church of Fort Worth for over 80 years. She especially loved going to the horse races in Ruidoso and enjoying their family lake house. Elizabeth volunteered with Altrusa International and various TWC alumni committees. She also volunteered at the hospital at Carswell Air Force Base during World War II. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Kenneth; and sister and her husband, Lorena and Joe Lynch. Survivors: In addition to her sons, Marty Moore and his wife, Jana, and Rusty, Elizabeth is survived by her daughter-in-law, Debbie; grandchildren, Ken Moore, Melissa and Travis Howell, Laurie and Willy Cline, Russell Moore and Leecy Moore; and five great-grandchildren; and nephew, Jack Lynch and his wife, Eva.
