FORT WORTH -- Eleanor Dorothy Harth Vannoy, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, March 16, 2014. Mrs. Vannoy was 95 years old. Service: Memorial Eucharist of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's in the Meadow, 4301 Meadowbrook Drive, with the Rev. Gayland Pool officiating. Friends and family will gather in the church's Fellowship Hall after the service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Humane Society of North Texas, 1840 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76103, in her memory, is suggested. Born Jan. 29, 1919, in Fort Worth, Eleanor was the only child of William and Winnie Harth. She graduated from R.L. Paschal High School in 1936. Eleanor's ambition in life was to be a wife, mother and homemaker. She married the love of her life, Richard Vannoy, on July 27, 1940, a marriage lasting 62 years before Mr. Vannoy's death in 2012. Her greatest joys were her family, St. Luke's in the Meadow Episcopal Church and animals. She served terms as junior and senior warden at St. Luke's and was active in many activities during her long membership in the church. There was never a time that Eleanor did not have at least one dog, and she treated them as if they were her children also. She loved her yard and had many birdhouses and birdbaths which she tended. Watching birds in her yard was on of her favorite pastimes. Survivors: In addition to her daughter and her husband, Diane and Bill Yanaway, Eleanor is survived by her granddaughter, Kerri Cooper; grandson, Justin Yanaway and his wife, Lindsay; and great-granddaughter, Hunter Grace Yanaway.
