DOROTHY BROWN HALTOM WOODSON

March 26, 1951 — February 7, 2025

Fort Worth

Fort Worth, Texas - A Fort Worth native, cherished for her vibrant spirit and generous heart, Dorothy passed away at home surrounded by her loving family after a short but brave battle with blood cancer and end-stage renal failure. She was 73 years old.

Dorothy embraced the cowgirl lifestyle from an early age. Her red hair was as bright as her spirit, reflecting her adventurous nature and love for the outdoors. A skilled horsewoman, she perfectly embodied the true essence of a cowgirl. Dorothy was a mother and guide to all who needed her.

Born at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Hyal Brown and Dorothy Duringer Brown, her stepfather, Evanda Pollard Haltom, and her grandparents, Dr. William Duringer and Lillian Douglas Duringer. She followed her beloved husband, Glen Dennis Woodson Jr. into eternal rest.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Glen Woodson III and his wife, Shelly, and Rodney Woodson; her daughters, Samantha Renfrow and her husband, Philip, Abby Wood and her husband, Levi, and Mandy Wilson and her husband, Carey. She was a proud grandmother to her loving grandchildren, Ashley Woodson, Kay Harrison, Emma Woodson, Makenzie Woodson, Melissa Woodson, Maya Spencer Mars, Chandler Mars, Ian Rodriguez, Jacob Wood, Oliver Wood and Stacey Wilson. She is also survived by her great-grandchild, Ryker Hedeman; and special friends, Daniel Hilbert, Evie Kandemiri, JoAnn Lunsford; and her beloved dog, Callie.

A Service at the Grave will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, at Greenwood Memorial Park, followed at 1 pm by a Memorial Reception in Greenwood’s Live Oak Room. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering a remarkable woman and mother who embraced life with courage, joy, and an open heart.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Saving Hope Animal Rescue, the American Cancer Society, or the Presbyterian Night Shelter.

Dorothy will be deeply missed but always remembered for the love she shared with all.
