Fort Worth, Texas – Doris Allene Singley Gregory passed away peacefully Thursday evening, December 8. Mrs. Gregory was 94.
A Service Celebrating Her Life will be held at 10 am Saturday, January 7, at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, currently meeting at St. Mathew’s Lutheran Church, 5709 Wedgewood Drive, Fort Worth.
Born in Silas, Alabama, Doris was the daughter of Era L. and Ethel Giles Singley. At 17, she attended nursing school at Hardin Simmons College. Doris married Bill M. Gregory in 1946; the couple had two children, Ric and Frances. Bill died in 1985.
Very dedicated to her family and church, she was a longtime member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church serving Communion to those unable to attend, as a Stephens Minister, was head of the Altar Guild and a member of Daughters of the King. An avid reader of National Geographic and Readers Digest magazines, she also enjoyed working in her yard, doing lawn and plant care.
Doris worked at Convair, General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin as a stenographer and as a production liaison, purchasing parts and invoicing local merchants.
In addition to her children, Ric and his wife, Denise, and Frances and her husband, Brian Boase, Doris is survived by her grandchildren, Beau (Melissa) Gregory, Felicia (Steven) Parker, Lisa (Kelly) Wootton, and Sereniah (Christopher) Mahanna; great-grandchildren, Greyson Parker, Lauren Gregory, Shelby Wootton, Thadeus Parker, Rory Mahanna, Rylan Mahanna, Sydney Wootton, Olivia Gregory and Ava Gregory.
