Doris Rogers Alford joined her beloved husband, H. Bruce Alford, in her signature fashion, on Good Friday, March 30, 2018 surrounded by her children. Mrs. Alford was 93. SERVICE: A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the sanctuary of University Christian Church, 2720 S. University Drive. Family and friends will gather in the church's Gallery Area immediately following the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Texas Christian University, University Christian Church or to a charity of choice, in her memory, is suggested. A lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Doris was born October 12, 1924, the daughter of William Monroe and Florence Margaret Jahn Rogers. She graduated from Arlington Heights High School before attending TCU where she met and fell in love with Bruce. On Valentine's Day 1943, after a three day whirlwind of wedding planning, Doris walked across the street from her childhood home on Hillcrest to marry Bruce before he was shipped out to war. It was her most cherished career, as a wife and mother, at which she excelled. Along the way, she found time to lend her support to the Woman's Club of Fort Worth, TCU Women Exes, TCU Quing Club and University Christian Church, but never relinquishing her role as COO of the Alford family. Doris was as tough as she was beautiful, fiercely loyal and protective of her family, and never once let a hair get out of place! SURVIVORS: Grateful for her long full life, Doris is survived by her children, H. Bruce Alford Jr and his wife, Carole, G. Bradley Alford and John Forestner and Brenda Alford Leonard and her husband, Bill; grandchildren, Brent Alford, Alex Leonard and his wife, Sydney, and Ted Leonard and his fiancé, Danni Cruse; and numerous cherished nieces & nephews and their families.
