Mrs. DENISE ANN COMEAU HUNTER

CRESSON -- Denise Ann Comeau Hunter departed this life to be with the Lord Friday morning, Aug. 1, 2014. Denise was 54 years old. Service: A Memorial Requiem will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, 3550 SW Loop 820. Family and friends will gather in the church's Fellowship Hall immediately after the service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the American Maltese Association Rescue or the American Cancer Society, in her memory is suggested. Born Aug. 19, 1959, in Augsburg, Germany, Denise was the daughter of Lottie and Benjamin Comeau Jr. After moving to Fort Worth, she graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1977. Her career path was influenced by her sister, Candy, who was a nurse. It also exemplified her calling to serve and help others. Denise graduated paramedic school at Tarrant County College in 1983. After working on ambulances for several years, Denise chose to continue her career advancement and went to nursing school. She worked at John Peter Smith Hospital from 1989 to 1999 in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit before joining Cook Children's Hospital. At Cook's, she briefly worked in the NICU and then went to work in telephone triage. Denise treated all with grace, dignity and true professionalism. She was proud to be part of a large and loving family. The youngest of six children, Denise shared a special bond with her mother, Lottie. She encouraged Denise to be the best that she could be, and to trust God. She taught Denise the difference between right and wrong, and to believe in their family and the joy and comfort it can bring. As Lottie struggled to recover from her stroke in 2009, Denise came to understand the depth of a mother's concern and the love of a mother's protectiveness. In 2010, Denise took her mother to live in her home, taking on the role of parent. With patience, and helpful, caring ways, she encouraged her mother to speak, and relearn some basic skills. Denise and her husband, Jim, were Lottie's caregivers until the very end. Denise was proud of her father who was a veteran of World War II; Korea, where he was a POW two years; and Vietnam; Mr. Comeau passed away in 1988. Denise had a very special way of making others feel special and had a great love for all God's creatures. She was a longtime member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church. She and Jim began showing dogs in 2006 which they enjoyed very much. She was active in the American Maltese Association Dog Club and served as director of the Midwest region and served as chairman of 2011 American Maltese Association National Dog Show. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Candace "Candy" Milton; and brother, David Sprout. Survivors, In addition to her loving husband and soulmate of 25 years, Jim Hunter, Denise is survived by her brothers, Bob Comeau of Brock, Benjamin Comeau of White Settlement and Kerry Comeau of Granbury; numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She will be missed and remembered lovingly by so many who knew and loved her. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mrs. DENISE ANN COMEAU HUNTER please visit our Sympathy Store.
