FORT WORTH -- Delta Glynn Boyd, loving wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday evening, April 10, 2014. Mrs. Boyd was 88 years old. Service: 6 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper with Rev. Joe Bob Boyd, her brother-in-law, and Rev. Michael O'Hara officiating. Following a committal service at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, she will be laid to rest with her husband, Steve. Visitation: Family and friends will gather from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: Consideration of contributions to North Park Baptist Church, North Richland Hills, in her memory, is suggested. Born in Patterson, La., on Jan. 13, 1926, Delta was the daughter of Nolton Thomas and Elvina Marie Callahan Glynn. She and her husband, Steve Boyd Jr., moved to Hurst in 1955. Delta was always active in civic affairs. In Hurst, she served on the Park and Recreation Board, was leader of Girl Scout Troop 544, volunteered for the PTA and Band Boosters, and served as president of The Oak Crest Woman's Club from 1980 to 1982. Also, she was a Bible teacher and grew in faith until her death. She and her husband moved to Broadway Plaza Retirement Center in 2000, where each week she used her singing and love of the Bible, to assist the pastor each Sunday during the on site services. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Steve Boyd Jr.; and a son, Stephen Boyd. Survivors: In addition to her daughters, Elaine Becker, Stephanie Farmer, Leigh Breig and her husband, Jerry, and Delta Thomas, Delta is survived by her sons, Tim Boyd and his wife, Cheryl, and Scott Boyd; daughter-in-law, Betty Boyd; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and good friends.
