FORT WORTH -- Constance Wood passed away peacefully Thursday evening, July 6, 2017. She was 87. Memorial Service: A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brookdale Broadway Cityview, 5301 Bryant Irvin Road, with The Rev. Susan Slaughter officiating. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Girl Scouts of America or the Humane Society of North Texas, in her memory, is suggested. Born April 11, 1930 in Gainesville, Texas, Constance was the daughter of Lester B. and Laura Broadwell Wood. She graduated in 1952 from the University of Texas at Austin. Constance worked for the Army Corps of Engineers, the Girl Scouts of America and taught for many years in the Fort Worth ISD. She loved to paint, build “things” and play cards; and she enjoyed travelling and snow skiing. Constance had a zest for life, learning and making friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jeanne Fort. Survivors: In addition to her niece, Linda Pickett, Constance is survived by her lifetime friend, Janice Rodgers; many cousins and extended family; and countless former students.
