FORT WORTH -- Charlotte Lavonne Combs Brumbaugh died peacefully Tuesday morning, March 4, 2014. Mrs. Brumbaugh was 86 years old. Memorial service: Noon Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3621 Tulsa Way, with a reception following in the church's Fellowship Hall. She will be laid to rest privately with her daughter, Paula, in Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church or a charity of choice, in her memory, is suggested. Born May 17, 1927, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Charlotte was the daughter of Frank and Edith Pollitt Combs. She was a 1944 graduate of Strahan Consolidated High School, where she met her future husband, Norman; they were married in 1946. In Fort Worth, the family increased with two children, Paula Edith and Frank Elliot. After divorcing in 1971, she continued her vocation as a secretary working at various jobs before retiring from Bell Helicopter after 20 years of service. Charlotte was a devoted Lutheran, joining Trinity Lutheran Church in 1949. She enjoyed her home where she loved to cook and work in her garden; she especially adored her cats. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter. Survivors: In addition to her son, Frank, Charlotte is survived by her grandsons, Chad Elliot and Justin Ross.
