HURST -- Billie Wollitz passed away peacefully Thursday morning, November 9, 2017. She was 92. SERVICE: A committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Born December 24, 1924 in Waco, Billie was the daughter of William Francis and Ora Ellis Smiley. She was a member of the 1942 class of Waco High School. On November 22, 1947 Billie married Charles George “Sonny” Wollitz in Waco. Billie and Sonny had three children. She worked for many years at Oasis Water Co in San Benito, TX. She and Sonny were founding members of Wesley Methodist Church in Harlingen, TX. One of her great joys was the annual family reunions at South Padre Island. As her children can attest, Christmas holidays were a special occasion with big and brightly decorated Christmas trees with generous numbers of presents spilling out from under the tree. She enjoyed planting and nurturing roses, her favorite flower. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Her firm faith in Christ and the support of loved ones sustained her to the end. Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 54 years, a sister and two brothers. SURVIVORS: In addition to her children, Mike Wollitz and his wife Dell, Steve Wollitz, and Dee Ann Wollitz, Billie was grandmother to Jennifer Schnitzius and her husband, Andrew, Hillary Wollitz and Andrew Wollitz; sister-in-law Eva Smiley; and nephew, Mark Armstrong and his wife, Sharon.
