FORT WORTH -- Barry Green, beloved father and grandfather, died peacefully Friday morning, Oct. 3, 2014. Mr. Green was 73 years old. Service: 3 p.m. Sunday in the Kornbleet Memorial Cemetery Chapel, located in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery, 411 N. University Drive. Rabbi Andrew Bloom and Cantor Shoshana Abrams Kaikov will officiate. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to a charity of choice, in his memory, is suggested. A native of Newark, New Jersey, Barry was born on August 13, 1941, the son of Carl and Ida Green. He married Fay Rosenberg in August 1962 and had four children. The family moved to Tyler in 1974, where he taught for many years at what is now the University of Texas at Tyler. Barry was an avid athlete and enjoyed raising African violets. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1985 at age 44 and became a strong advocate for Parkinsonians, editing and writing Parkinsonian Publications for several years. He was a long time member and past president of Congregation Ahavath Achim in Tyler as well as regional board member for B'nai B'rith. He moved to Fort Worth to be near Mona and her family in 2009 and especially enjoyed eating ice cream with his grandchildren and playing Scrabble with anyone willing to take him on! Survivors: In addition to his children, Mona and Steve Karten, Jonathan and Rachel Green, Sheryl Green and Caryn Green, Barry is survived by his grandchildren, Carly, Benjy and Molly Karten, Ryan, Aaron, and Gabriel Green and Adiv Green.
