FORT WORTH -- Ann Kirschner Bogart died peacefully early Monday morning, Jan. 6, 2014, during her 93rd year. Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Barnett Sanctuary at Congregation Ahavath Sholom, 4050 S. Hulen St., with Rabbi Andrew Bloom and Cantor Shoshana Abrams officiating. Following committal prayers, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Louis, in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery. Shiva and minyon service will be held at the Bogart residence, beginning Wednesday at 6 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Congregation Ahavath Sholom, the American Sewing Guild - DFW Chapter, sewdallas.org., in her memory, is suggested. Born Oct. 26, 1920, in Bielsko-Biala, Poland, Ann was the daughter of Regina and Jacob Kirschner. She was a fashion designer and spent most of the war in Stalinist labor camps in Siberia. Ann met the love of her life, Louis Bogart, in Uzbekistan, both Holocaust survivors, and married March 8, 1945. Together, they moved to Fort Worth where they started Bogart Industries. Ann designed clothing for several stores and evening gowns and swim suits for the Miss Texas and Miss America pageants. She was still sewing for private clients just three weeks ago before her death. Along with her husband, Louis, she was a longtime member of the board of Miss Texas Pageant as well as president of the board of Casa Amigos of Casa Manana. In 1994, she was named volunteer of the year for the Miss America Pageant. Ann was a member of Congregation Ahavath Sholom, Hadassah, NCJW and a myriad Jewish organizations. She was warm, giving and a wonderful hostess, always making family and friends feel comfortable in her home. Her family meant everything to her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis, who died in 2002; and her son, Sanford, in 2011. Survivors: In addition to her children, Herb Bogart and his wife, Libby, and Ruth Bogart and her husband, Larry Currie, all of Fort Worth, Ann is survived by grandchildren, Deryck Bogart and Lisa Deist, Sean Bogart, Erin Blythe and Chris Scott, Shawn and Zack Clarke and Michael Mooney; great-grandchildren, Sara Deist, Sasha Bogart, Louis Bogart II, Nate Scott, Elliot Scott and Campbell Clarke; great-great-grandson, Elijah Deist; brother and his wife, Edward and Eva Kirschner; and many more extended family members and beloved friends.
