FORT WORTH -- Alice Hosford Austin died Monday evening, Jan. 26, 2015, after a hard battle with cancer. She was 63 years old. Service: 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper where friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. until service time. A procession will be led to Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery where retired U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Austin will receive full military honors at 1 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions in Alice's name to one or both of these honorable charities, Medical Services Dogs, www.medicalservicesdogs.com, or America's Mighty Warriors, www.americasmightywarriors.org, is suggested. Born in Lake City, Fla., Dec. 25, 1951, Alice was the daughter of Thomas Earl and Charlene Pitzer Hosford. Following the death of her father at an early age, her mother married U.S. Navy Cmdr. Charlie B. Sturm; she was raised by her parents, Charlene and Charlie. Alice proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1978 to 2004. She had a fierce love for her country that was only matched by her love and devotion to her son and family, friends and her dog, Miss Sophie. Survivors: In addition to her son, Michael Hinton and his wife, Lori Hinton, of Weatherford, Alice is survived by her five grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, Rogan, Brylee and Ashley; her brother, Tommy Hosford and his wife, Carolyn, of Lake City, Fla.; and nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
